Hello, everyone! Today we are going to talt an interesting topic---Health Eating. Before our beginning, please write down what you each thint making a healthy meal, whether you eat a healthy diet, and whether you know that the food you eat helps you grow in different ways. As you’re ready, compare your idea with your partner. And then, we’ll invite some pairs of you to give us your ideas.
Classify food according to their functions and fill in the form.
Foods to give energy Foods to grow bones and muscle
(body-building foods) Foods that give fiber for digestion and health
(protective food)
Fast energy food Slow energy food

1. diet n. ＆ vi.
1) [C] n. ① 日常饮食
Proper diet and exercise are both important for health. 适当的饮食和运动对身体健康都很重要。
② 日常食物
The Japanese diet often includes rice, fish and vegetables. 日本人的日常食物通常包括大米、鱼和蔬菜。
③ （因患病或为减肥而设的）规定饮食，特种食谱
I decided to go on a diet before my holiday. 我决定在休假之前开始节食。
2) vi. 节食
She is dieting to lose weight. 她在节食以减肥。
【辨析】 diet与food都有“食物”的意思。diet特指的是习惯的食物或维持健康的定质或定量的食物，为可数名词；food指凡能吃喝的具有营养的东西，常为不可数名词，在表示食品种类时常用复数形式。
【常见搭配】 a balanced diet 均衡的饮食；go / be on a diet 节食。
2. balance vt. ＆ n.
1) vt. ① 使平衡
The dolphin balanced the ball on its nose. 海豚用鼻子顶着球，使其保持平衡。
② 权衡 (以找到平衡点)
We have to balance the needs and tastes of all our customers. 我们得权衡所有顾客的需求和口味。
2) n. ① 天平
Will you weigh it in the balance? 你用天平称一称好吗?
② 平衡，平稳
Riders need a good sense of balance. 骑车的人必须善于保持平衡。
【常见搭配】 a balance beam平衡木；keep one’s balance 保持平衡；lose one’s balance 失去平衡；off balance 失衡，有倾覆危险； keep the balance of nature 保持生态平衡；on balance总的来说。
3. strength n.
1) 力气，体力
I have hardly enough strength left to move my feet. 我几乎连移动双脚的力气都没有了。
2) 力量
Unity is strength. 团结就是力量。
3) 强项，长处
That was both its strength and its weakness. 这既是它的长处，同时也是它的弱点。
【辨析】 strength、 energy、 power和force四个词都和“力”有关。str
